Primer:

Primer promotes better adhesion and longer life since priming prevents the 100% solids Armorclad from absorbing into the floor, adding thickness. Priming also prevents uneven sheen differences and makes the total floor thicker and more chip-resistant. Previously coated floors, porous or damaged floors, and mechanically grinded floors must be primed. For any light color floor (beige, white, or lighter base colors), we strongly recommend a primer for a more even finish.

No Primer:

It's not required to prime your floor! We do recommend it as an extra step for protection, improved appearance, and durability.
