ArmorPoxy’s Powdered Etch Concentrate is a high-strength etching solution designed to prepare concrete surfaces before applying epoxy coatings, sealers, or paints. It effectively removes laitance (weak top layers of concrete), opens pores for better adhesion, and improves the longevity of coatings.

ArmorPoxy present this guide on how to install this concentrated epoxy in step by step guide.

Step 1: Safety Precautions

  1. Wear protective gear – safety goggles, acid-resistant gloves, long sleeves, and a respirator.

  2. Ensure proper ventilation – when working indoors, open windows and use fans.

  3. Protect surrounding areas – cover nearby metal, plants, and sensitive surfaces to prevent damage from acid exposure.

Step 2: Surface Preparation

  1. Remove all dirt, oil, grease, and loose debris using a degreaser or industrial cleaner.

  2. Scrub with a stiff-bristle brush or use a pressure washer for deep cleaning.

  3. Allow the surface to dry before applying the etching solution.

Step 3: Mixing the Powdered Etch Solution

A: Dilute the Powdered Etch Concentrate:

  1. Mix 1 part ArmorPoxy Powdered Etch Concentrate with 3-4 parts water in a plastic container (never use metal).

  2. Always add the powder to water (never the reverse) to prevent dangerous reactions.

B: Mix Thoroughly:

  1. Stir until the powder is fully dissolved.

  2. Prepare enough solution to cover the entire surface evenly.

Step 4: Applying the Solution

  1. Pour or spray the solution evenly over the concrete.

  2. Use a stiff-bristle broom or brush to scrub the surface in circular motions.

  3. Expect a foaming or bubbling reaction as the etching process works.

Step 5: Let the Solution Sit:

  1. Allow the solution to remain on the surface for 5-10 minutes (do not let it dry out).

  2. Continue scrubbing periodically for an even finish.

Step 6: Allow the Surface to Dry:

  1. Let the concrete dry for at least 24 hours before applying epoxy or coating
